“Remodeling is a piece of cake,” said no one ever. The truth is, remodeling is a huge investment and it takes effort to learn about all the options available. Watching remodeling shows, sadly, is not an education to set homeowners up for success and often gives them naïve expectations.
“To make better remodeling decisions and create a valuable investment in their homes, homeowners must understand what a realistic remodel involves, as well as what is achievable within their budget,” says Aaron Johnson, co-owner of Castle Building & Remodeling, Inc. “That’s why we started offering free education classes.”
Castle’s education classes are designed to help everyone from the least handy person to the do-it-yourselfer. These free classes focus on how to plan various types of remodeling projects and get a better value through discussion of the design process, typical project budgets, design trends, timelines, how to cut costs, and green remodeling ideas.
“These classes help educate homeowners in the design/build process. It also helps Castle. If a homeowner has taken one of our classes, the remodeling process is usually smoother because they already know a lot of what to expect. Because of that benefit to us, we offer a $100 gift certificate to all who attend a class.”
Castle offers a variety of classes, such as:
• Bathroom Remodeling
• Kitchen Remodeling
• Basement Remodeling
• Attic (1/2 Story) Remodeling
• Prioritizing Home Improvements
• Creative Financing for Your Remodel (presented by renovation loan professionals)
• Evaluating Your Home for Solar (presented by All Energy Solar)
Castle’s design selection studios double as classrooms for these hour-and-a-half sessions. Classes at the Longfellow neighborhood showroom are on select Saturday mornings at 10am, while classes at Castle’s NE Minneapolis, S Minneapolis (Diamond Lake Road), and St. Paul locations are on select Tuesday evenings at 6pm.
Free education classes are just one example of Castle’s commitment to homeowner education. Castle’s annual Home Tour offers a chance for homeowners to visit previously completed projects, view renderings and plans that led to the finished product, and speak with remodeling professionals. Castle also provides example pricing for the most popular types of remodels on its extensive website, all with itemized pricing so homeowners can see how budgets are allocated.
Due to increased popularity, classes fill up fast. Register for a class on Castle’s website here.
