Summer is here and it's just in time for Bike Month here at Chinook Book! For the remainder of May, we're going to be passing along our knowledge of the best places to pump those pedals!
WHAT IS IT?
The Grand Rounds is a scenic loop of trails around the beautiful Lake Calhoun. You can ride the loop in its entirety or partially, it's all up to you. There are exits located along the 16-mile route and Uptown Minneapolis is just beyond Calhoun's shores. One of the best things about this trail is that it's flanked on all sides by more lakes and more parks making it very easy to change course as you go. Since it's so versatile, you can come back every weekend and bike a totally different course each time. If it's a hot day, and you find yourself in West Calhoun, swing by Ben & Jerry's for some ice cream, or instead if you are a froyo kind of human, Yogurt Lab isn't far. If you like both, I'm sorry but you're going to have to pick a side.
WHAT MAKES IT GREAT
A scenic loop around one of Minnesota's 10,000 lakes. You can go bird-watching or picnicking along the way as you meander through the dense river-edge forest. Surrounded by other parks with trails that flow into the loop, making this a fantastic location to try new things every time you visit.
