Mariposa Bakery’s founder Patti Furey Crane adopted a gluten-free diet 10 years ago following a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. There were few options at the time for high-quality gluten-free sweets, so Patti decided to bake them herself. In 2004, Mariposa was hatched. Their mission has always been to create wholesome, hand-crafted food using the finest natural ingredients.
Mariposa’s dedicated gluten-free kitchen in the Temescal neighborhood of Oakland, California is a certified green bakery, and is also home to the first Mariposa bakeshop. They opened a second location in the San Francisco Ferry Building that also serves fresh pastries, sandwiches, sweets, and more.
They are passionate about baking gluten-free, their creative journey, and the communities they serve. Meaning ‘butterfly’ in Spanish, Mariposa represents the many transformations that occur in life, and what a pivotal role food and diet can play in that journey.

From pies to cheesecake, dinner rolls to stuffing, breakfast pastries and more, satisfy all of your guests with their extensive options! Everything is gluten-free, and they have dairy-free, nut-free, soy-free, and vegan products as well.
1. Breakfast Pastries
Stock up on delicious gluten-free breakfast pastries. From sweet and fluffy cinnamon rolls, buttery croissants and pain au chocolats to vegan banana chocolate chip muffins and almond-topped bear claws, there’s something for everyone. All you need to do is warm in the oven or toaster, make some coffee, and enjoy!
Cranberry apple pie – Tart cranberries and sweet apples make this pie burst with flavor. Topped with a gluten-free oat crumble, this pie is sure to delight the party!
Apple pie – Mariposa’s classic apple pie is a holiday must. The gluten-free oat crumble combined with cinnamon-spiced apples is irresistible; this pie won’t last long on your table!
Pumpkin pie – Their pumpkin pie is a great gluten-free twist on this classic fall dessert. Spiced with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves, Mariposa’s pumpkin pie makes a spectacular dessert with whipped cream (and a delicious breakfast the next morning).
Pecan pie – Mariposa’s pecan pie is sweetened with brown sugar to compliment the natural flavors of the tender pecans. This pie is a local favorite!

Cornbread – Mariposa’s cornbread stuffing is pre-baked and full of fresh herbs. This vegetarian dish is ready to heat, serve, or stuff! Serves approximately 4 people.
4. Cornbread Muffins
Perfect for the Thanksgiving dinner table, these muffins are packaged in oven-safe trays. Warm in the oven before serving and bring the enticing smell of our gluten-free bakery right into your own home.
5. Dinner Rolls
Dinner rolls – These vegan rolls pair well with any meal. To soften, warm in the oven before serving and accompany with butter or jam.
Pull-apart rosemary rolls – These soft rosemary-infused, pull-apart rolls are par-baked and ready to pop in the oven and serve!
Garlic bread – Mariposa’s baguette drizzled with olive oil, organic garlic, and parmesan cheese bakes perfectly as a garlic bread. Just warm in a 375-degree oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown and serve.
6. Alternative Lunchtime and Dinner Options
Sandwich bread - Their soft and fluffy sandwich bread or sandwich rolls are great for making leftover turkey sandwiches with cranberry sauce and cheddar.
Spinach lasagna - A time-tested favorite recipe from Patti's mom! Mariposa’s spinach lasagne is handmade with gluten-free lasagne noodles, and is layered with ricotta cheese, organic spinach, and mozzarella. It's irresistible!
Pizza crusts – Dealing with picky eaters? Throw a DIY pizza night! Everyone can add their favorite toppings on 6" personal pizzas, or create a totally unique combo on their 10" shared pizza crusts.
Ravioli - Mariposa’s handmade 18-piece raviolis come in two flavors: Butternut Squash & Sage, and Ricotta & Parmesan Cheese. They're perfect for a quick and delicious dinner before or after Thanksgiving. Just boil and mix with your favorite sauce!
Chicken pot pie - A savory combination of Mary's all-natural chicken, organic onions, celery, peas, and carrots in an herbed sauce. This hearty dish is the ultimate gluten-free comfort food.

Mariposa encourages customers to order ahead on their website. To ensure they bake enough of every food and don’t run out, place your order online and pick it up at a bakeshop—it’s easy! Mariposa’s Thanksgiving items will be available from November 1st through November 21st. The last day to place your pre-order is November 17.
