If you're from South Seattle, you already know about the rich culture and diverse creative community that exists here. If you're not from South Seattle, you might be missing out.
Othello Block Party is returning for a second year of connecting creative people from all corners of South Seattle, and showcasing the artist community for the rest of the region to see. Featuring food trucks, live painting, kids activities, and a full day of music, there's something for everyone.
Best of all, the event is completely FREE, thanks to the generosity of the MLK Business Association and a number of other community-minded businesses and organizations. The event starts at 12pm and runs nonstop until 10pm.
This year's lineup features both established artists as well as some serious up-and-comers. The day starts with DJ sets curated by Concuss, followed by music and dance performances by Shakiah and Northwest Tap Connection. Next up is a youth showcase curated by The Hydrant, followed by Holly Park's own Essam and a special guest from London, Faisal Salah.
The last half of the day features heavy-hitting hip hop and pop performances. Nic Masangkay, Rogue Pinay, and Theomatic all grace the stage following a guaranteed unforgettable performance by South Seattle revolutionary Rell Be Free. BlkEnglish, a Southend art collective, is coordinating over an hour of music featuring performances by Charlie Cash, BlkSknn, EViE and more.
