It’s time for Fall Festival, Swansons Nursery’s favorite weekend of family fun! Join them for games and activities that celebrate the season! At their Veggie Car Racing station, kids can create and decorate cars made out of vegetables and then race them down a racetrack. There will be a Fall Crafts station where kids can make cheerio birdfeeders and handprint “leaves” with messages to decorate their Thankful Tree. A challenging Spiderweb Obstacle Course is sure to be a favorite and even the littlest kids can enjoy their Pumpkin Ring Toss. The whole family will enjoy a tractor ride around Swansons!
This year, Fall Festival is raising money for the local non-profit Green Plate Special. Green Plate Special gives kids hands-on opportunities to grow and prepare healthy, nutritious, and delicious food. They engage middle school students through after-school and in-school programs, spring and summer camps, field trips, and evening cooking classes. Subjects such as math, science, and history are interwoven with lessons on growing food and cooking, and kids can often take home vegetables from the garden and a sample of what they have cooked to share with their families. The work Green Plate Special does in our community is inspiring to see!
Swansons is excited to be able to donate all Fall Festival ticket proceeds to Green Plate Special. The Ballard Kiwanis will also donate their proceeds from snack and beverage sales to Green Plate Special. Fall Festival runs from 10am-3pm on Saturday, October 12th and Sunday, October 13th. Swansons can’t wait to see you and celebrate fall with you!
