The Puget Sound’s salvage experts aren’t just renowned for their massive selection of reclaimed materials and free salvage services, but their ability to throw a party. So before you do anything else, commit this to memory: Second Use Fall Fest is Saturday, September 15th from 12-6pm at their Seattle store.
A Community Celebration
Since 1994, Second Use has worked to keep used building materials out of the landfill and within the local community. With locations in both Seattle and Tacoma, Second Use salvages material from spaces slated for demolition or remodel and sells them to the public at a fraction of the cost of something new.
Each year, Second Use diverts approximately 4,000 tons of waste—but they couldn’t do it without the support of their community.
In celebration of salvage and the diverse network of friends, neighbors, artists, craftsmen, homeowners, contractors, collectors, and upstanding citizens that make this process possible, Second Use invites you to join them for their annual Fall Fest.
Something For Everyone
With free food, live screen printing, all ages games, a beer garden, a storewide sale, and The Handmade & Reclaimed Market, Fall Fest offers a roster of activities as diverse as Second Use’s inventory.
Have you ever cooked 1,200 hot dogs? Second Use manager Dave Lacey has—and he’ll do it again at this year’s Fall Fest. With options for both omnivores and vegetarians, Second Use will be firing up the grill at noon and feeding the public for free until supplies run out.
Live Screen Printing
Grab an old tee shirt and infuse it with new life and a sweet Second graphic! Second Use’s live screen printing demos give you the chance to step into the shoes of Andy Warhol for a moment and walk away with something fabulous.
All Ages Games
Sure, you’ve seen houses built from salvaged materials, but how about a mini golf course? Or a trebuchet? Or shuffleboard? Discover how old can be used to create new ways to keep you and the family entertained!
As if anyone needs an excuse to drink a cold beer, local non-profit Sawhorse Revolution will be slinging beers in the beer garden to raise money for their programming. Sawhorse brings together diverse youth, professional builders, and engaged volunteers to build inspiring structures for their local communities. Who wouldn’t want to cheers to that?
