Seattle (10:00pm and 10:20pm)
This Independence Day watch the fireworks show from some of our favorite viewpoints around Seattle. We’ve taken this opportunity to provide a quick overview of four stellar locations around the city which will give you fantastic views of the celebration. Skip the hassle of parking your own car on the busy streets and use the Chinook Book app on you phone to save on carshares for the day! Don't forget to pack yourself some tasty treats!
Gene Coulon Park (10:00pm)
Celebrate another year of independence with a whole day of family friendly fun. Gene Coulon Park hosts an annual July 4th event packed full of speakers, musicians, fun, and games, and you’re invited! Pack up a ZipCar with chairs, blankets, and a cooler full of snacks and head over to Renton (click HERE to get 50% off of a first year membership, plus FREE driving). if you don't have chairs, blankets, or a cooler, no worries! You can stop by Big 5 Sporting Goods in the Factoria Square mall and grab some picnic supplies (click HERE to get $5 off your purchase of $25 or more)! It’s a bit of a drive, but it gives you a chance to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city for a day. Food vendors and craft tables will be present with a wide selection of meals and treats and goodies, and to top things off, there’s a whole playground for maximum fun.
Gas Works Park (10:20pm)
If you’re looking for something a little closer to city center, swing by Gas Works Park (or Lake Union Park) for an entire day’s worth of music, art, and fun. You can reserve a seat by paying in advance, or you can choose the completely free option and get there a little early. On your way to the park, stop by Essential Baking and pick up a loaf of bread for sandwiches (one free loaf of bread) ! With the fireworks right over Lake Union, Gas Works park is ideal if you want to be up close and personal.
Bhy Kracke Park (10:20pm)
Hoping for something a little more short term and low-key with fewer people and less noise? Hop in a ZipCar and head on over to Bhy Kracke Park, to the southwest of Lake Union (click HERE to get 50% off of a first year membership, plus FREE driving). Before picking out a spot, grab some coffee on the way at Caffe Ladro (click here to get one free food item with your purchase of any coffee beverage). There aren’t any events at this location, so if you’re just looking for a nice view of the fireworks around the city, this is your best bet!
MacLean Park (10:20pm)
Like Bhy Kracke Park, MacLean Park provides a fantastic view of the Lake Union fireworks without the crowds and noise. Only a quick Car2Go ride from Seattle City Center or Gas Works Park, MacLean is smack dab in the center of the Seattle metropolitan area (you'll save $30 on registration by clicking here). After the fireworks, take a leisurely walk through the riverfront communities or even downtown, then stop by Sushi Samurai for a bite to eat (click here to save $10 off your bill).
No matter where you choose to watch the fireworks this year, we wish you a very happy 4th of July! Enjoy!
