Advertising & Circulation Sales Manager

Founded in 1999, Chinook Book connects local, sustainable, and ethical businesses with people who care to foster everyday sustainable decisions. Our print and multi-channel platform delivers offers, rewards, promotions, and resources for our opt-in, values-driven audience throughout Northern California and in four other regional markets.

We’re seeking an outbound ad sales professional with experience winning, developing, and managing multi-year relationships with Bay Area business owners, non-profits, marketing professionals, and retailers. Our ideal candidate sees their mission as helping to solve their clients' core marketing and outreach challenges by providing excellent consultative direction and solutions. Main Duties:

  • Prospect and sell Chinook Book multi-channel ad packages and community rewards programs to local businesses, organizations, and schools;

  • Acquire new business partnerships and cultivate revenue from existing businesses through smart and relevant consultations;

  • Collaborate and contribute to market-wide initiatives, including promotions and cross-channel sales and promotions;

  • Help market growth with strategic circulation sales including community rewards, corporate sales, retail merchandising, and fundraising channels;

  • Manage market-wide retail merchandising and fundraising channels to achieve circulation revenue goals; participate in the design and implementation of an overall circulation sales/promotions strategy;

  • Establish and manage retail merchant accounts, including inventory placement, point-of-sale merchandising, and deliveries;

  • Manage all functions of sales/promotions for fundraising and affiliate sales through local schools and nonprofit organizations;

  • Keep up to date on the latest mobile, digital, and advertising trends;

  • Demonstrate knowledge and enthusiasm for sustainability issues and for supporting and promoting local, sustainable businesses.

Requirements:

  • 1+ years B2B sales experience desired; outbound sales experience preferred; relevant, transferable experience welcome;

  • BA or BS degree desired; equivalent experience strongly considered;

  • Ongoing proven experience achieving monthly/quarterly sales goals;

  • Strong interest in and commitment to sustainability issues;

  • Highly-motivated, collaborative, outgoing, positive, confident, and respectful;

  • Comfortable developing relationships over the phone, by email, and face-to-face;

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;

  • Experience with mobile and digital marketing products a plus;

  • Computer and smartphone literacy required; Salesforce CRM experience preferred;

  • Travel to clients within a 75 mile radius required;

  • Occasional evening and weekend work;

  • Ability to lift 30-lb boxes of books;
